Vermont Ski Lodge
Waterbury, VT
in collaboration with Amee Allsop and Joan HeatonSituated equal distance between two world-class skiing resorts, the Vermont Residence was designed as a getaway destination for a New York City couple. The design of the home was to evoke the feeling of a warm and welcoming cabin, while still maintaining the light and airy feeling of a new home. This was achieved using a timber frame structure and by juxtaposing darker wood and metal finishes with white plaster walls.
Jason Atkins Design was brought onto the team to add to the original architect’s vision of a barn-like home by completing the full interior architecture scope of work, refining the interior and exterior details, selecting interior and exterior finishes, and assisting in the selection of furnishings, finishings and equipment. We also assisted the Owner in engaging with and overseeing the process of using a prefabricated timber frame structure from Bensonwood, which required the adaptation of the original architect’s wood frame structural system into a post and beam structure.
